Project Overview
The Decorative Concrete Flooring & Landscaping Training Project reflects Oma HelpingHands Foundation’s commitment to empowering youth with practical, income-generating skills. Unemployment remains one of the most pressing challenges for young people in Nigeria, and this initiative provides a gateway into trades that are both sustainable and in high demand.
What We Did
In March 2025, Oma HelpingHands Foundation sponsored five young participants to complete a certified training program in decorative and 3D concrete flooring and landscaping. The training equipped them with essential techniques—surface preparation, mixing, stamping, sealing, edging, and garden design—needed to enter the workforce confidently and professionally.
Participants gained both theoretical and hands-on experience, including on-site practice that allowed them to apply their new skills in real-world environments. Each trainee was guided through practical sessions designed to build confidence and competence, ensuring they could begin earning income immediately after completion.
Beyond technical training, the Foundation also provided business guidance, safety instruction, and starter tool lists to help each graduate launch successfully.
Imapct
For many of the trainees, this project represented their first real opportunity to gain a professional skill. With their new expertise, they are now positioned to find employment, start micro-businesses, and contribute meaningfully to their local economies.
The initiative demonstrates how skill-based empowerment creates ripple effects: one trained youth becomes a provider, then a mentor, and eventually, a potential employer—spreading opportunity across the community.
Transparency and Accountability
All trainees were selected through an open and fair process, and training outcomes were documented through attendance records, progress tracking, and post-training follow-up. The Foundation continues to monitor participants’ progress to assess how the skills translate into income and community development.
Looking Ahead
The success of this project strengthens Oma HelpingHands Foundation’s drive to expand empowerment initiatives. Future plans include introducing new trades such as solar installation, make-up artistry, and digital literacy—all designed to open more doors for self-reliance among Nigeria’s youth.
